Very honoured to be named as 3rd place Winner in Portrait Group/Family Category @ international Cosmos Awards. Very humble to have my name next to some familiar significant photographers and artists! My first time in this competition and all my 3 images were awarded with 2 special Silvers Distinction and 1 Silver (in Family and Creative Portrait Composite). Thank you for this honour!
I would love to share with you few words about this concept “Grandma, Tell Me More”:
This image reminded me of my precious grandma. I remembered those beautiful days in my childhood that I used to spend with her in her cityside house in Vietnam. Suddenly, all memories came back to me while capturing this scene. Her gentle silhouette sitting in her bed. Her long grey hair in a bun during the day. Her rough dry hands and soft voice that tickled my ears while she was reading a story. I’m very fortunate to spend time with her. She would always listen to me. Whatever I needed to tell her she was ready to listen.I visited my grandmother before she passed away. It was hard for me, specially as pre-teen, to see someone you care about so much go through a cancer battle. I remember that once she battled with cancer my mother stayed by her bed day and night until she went back to Germany. For me, my mother had already given me the wisest pieces of advice in my life! She showed unconditional love and support without words. Although my grandmother is no longer with me, I want to keep her gentle kind way and her unconditional love alive. I hope that one day when I grow old I would be a good example for my grandchildren just as my grandmother was for me.
